We try do as many as we can with out stopping. We have been doing our pepeha witch is a way to tell someone else about yourself in Maori one NZ 3 official  languages. In your pepeha you talk about your family, your river, your mountain, your country, your city, your region, and your home.

Family Fun day!

The Family Fun Day!
Hey Bloggers!
Last Friday it was...
Waikowhai's Community Fun Day! We had TWO bouncy castles, a giant water slide and much much more. We were divided into our house groups. The mighty Tui (my house group), Kea, Ruru and Pukeko. All the house groups are the names of NZ birds in Maori, we have had these house groups for years. Because I was in the leadership team, I had to wear an orange t - shirt with my name on the back - that I usually wear when I'm doing my duties. I helped out a lot by helping sell at the bake sale and staying at the bottom of the  Bouncy castle so no one got hurt, but I was also having fun!
My favourite bit was the water slide because I got to crash off it and I enjoyed it a lot! On the Fun Day it was also the day for the call of prayer so we had two minutes silence to remember the lives that were lost in the mass shooting. Here is a video showing how much fun we had on the amazing day!

The special assembly

                    The special assembly

Hi bloggers
As you might know something horrid has happened in NZ Christchurch. It has effected the whole of NZ, so at Waikowhai Primary School we had a special assembly respecting the people who passed away. We planted a  Kowhai tree as part of the assembly. Children from all areas of the school were selected to put cards down around the tree. These cards are for all the people who might of been effected in the attacks. We got one child from each of the schools 16 cultures those children represented what their culture was. In Reading we looked at some of the websites set up for the 50 people who died. We chose a Kowhai tree because our school is called Waikowhai. We did the two minutes silence on Friday which was during our schools Family Fun Day. We practised a look down because of the attack. I completely support Christchurch in this sad time. Our goal after what happened on the 15th of march 2019 is to not be racist and be the best we can be! I am really proud of how NZ has reacted it is amazing and shows the world how amazing we are.

The Environmental Group.

Hi bloggers
My name is Neeve and this is my first ever blog. This week in Environmental Group, I learnt
About beeswax and Kawakawa balm. Did you know that the Kawakawa leaves that have holes in them,
means they're the best ones because the caterpillars choose the leaves with the most nutrition.
It took a long time to grate all of the beeswax and put it on the fabric ready to be made into beeswax
wraps. We've also been going to Cameron Pools this Week ,It's been really fun and it's been great for
our learning. I have learnt to do safety strokes like sculling and diving.
